School Days...

Parents,

We are finishing up on a tremendous year! We have had many successes and Randall McBride once said, "Success will not lower its standard to us. We must raise our standard to success." I feel that all year long we have been raising our standards and pushing our students to work hard and make good choices. Now that we are closing in on graduation, we can really reflect on how much our students have grown! I am so proud of them! We still have many events coming up, so let's get out those calendars and write down the following dates!
TALENT SHOW TONIGHT at 6 p.m. Our students have tried out and earned their spots and opportunities to perform for everyone! So please come out and cheer them on!

KIDS ROCK MARATHON this FRIDAY at 5:00 p.m!! They will be starting at LP FIELD! This is a very exciting opportunity for our students to participate in. They have been running over the last 2 months to accumulate 25 miles, and Friday they will finish the 26.2 miles needed to complete a marathon! So let's all go out there and support and celebrate this achievement with our friends! I am extremely excited and proud of them!

Monday, April 30 will be our Kindergarten Program! This will take place in the middle school gym at 6:30 p.m.

Next Thursday, May 3 our 2nd – 4th graders will be honored at the Elizabeth Brashears Celebrate Literacy Awards Program that is being held at Goodpasture Christian School. Invitations went home yesterday, and the program begins at 5:30 p.m. Again, this is another proud moment for our students who have worked very hard writing their own stories!

Next Friday, May 4, is our second play by our Fine Arts Drama Club! The anticipation of  seeing Twisted Fairy Tales is killing me! I can't wait to see our talented friends perform! The play will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the high school gym!!

May 10 will be our 4th Grade Recorder Concert! The performance will be located in the middle school gym at 6:00 p.m.

May 14 will be Awards Day at 9:00 a.m.

May 15 will be Kindergarten Graduation at 8:30 a.m.

**Teacher Request - Don't forget to reenroll and submit your teacher request by tomorrow. Unfortunately, after tomorrow, I will no longer be accepting requests for next year.

Busy Week...

Hello Parents,

Wow!  What a week!  God has blessed us in so many ways.  On Tuesday afternoon, a fire broke out in one of our middle school classrooms, an event through which God extended His magnificent hand of protection over our school.  The timing of the fire was a great mercy.  In the first place, it happened after school hours, when most of our students had left for the day.  Also, it happened at a time when several of our staff members were still in the building and could notice and handle the situation before it grew out of control.  Most importantly, everyone remained safe.

Over the past two days, I have been reflecting on the greatness of our amazing God, who is always protecting us, even in times of trials.  Chris Tomlin’s song “Our God” states the situation perfectly:

Water, You turned into wine
Opened the eyes of the blind
There's no one like You
None like You

Into the darkness, You shine
Out of the ashes we rise
There's no one like You
None like You

Our God is greater
Our God is stronger
God, You are higher than any other
Our God is healer
Awesome in power
Our God….

Because God is all-powerful, He has the ability and strength to do whatever He pleases.  Our God is capable of doing anything.  No task is too big for Him; He never fails!  He protected all of our precious students and our wonderful school during the fire.  Let’s give praise and thanks to our mighty God for His many blessings!

On another note…

Tomorrow is GRANDPARENTS DAY and SPRING SPRINT! We are looking forward to seeing everyone come out to honor our Grandparents. Pictures and Reception begin at 7:30 a.m.; then at 8:30 a.m., we will have a short program in the high school gym for all parents and grandparents. All visitors will need to be in the high school by 8:20 a.m.

Report Cards for 1st-4th grade will be e-mailed out at 3 p.m. tomorrow. (PreK and K report cards will be sent home Monday with your child)

Field Day is coming up next Friday, April 20. This year, the theme is "movies," and our students are super excited!

Talent Show:
Auditions are complete, and the show is set! We have lots of students participating this year. Parents, if you have a child selected to be in the show please, be looking for a note sent home today. The talent show will be on April 26 at 6:30 p.m. This is a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish, and we are asking for a $1 admission fee. All PK-6th grade students will be attending the dress rehearsal on Thursday, and they will not be charged if they come again to the evening show. We are getting close to our goal, and this show is our last chance to help out with the service project! We are very excited to see the wonderful talent these students have to show us!

Just a Reminder

**Don't forget to complete your re-enrollment ONLINE through Parents Web by April 15.

Requesting a Classroom Teacher - Please Read Carefully
We will be using a NEW process this year for requesting a specific teacher for the next school year. We will be accepting teacher requests during a two-week period, April 16-27. I will try to honor as many requests as possible, but I cannot guarantee that all requests will be granted. Remember that classroom assignments are made based on a variety of important factors, such as overall numbers, gender, class mix, and teacher recommendations. In order for your request to be considered, you need to re-enroll by the April 15 deadline. No request will be accepted after April 27. We love and appreciate all of our families, and I will do my best to honor your requests as much as possible.
**Email or written requests will be accepted. Thank you!

A few upcoming dates:

Before we head out...

Hello Parents,

It's time for Easter break, and for me, a time of reflection over the holiday. Many people have asked, "Why do Christians celebrate Easter?" Well, on Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus came back to life (was raised from the dead) three days after his death on the cross. As part of the Easter season, the death of Jesus Christ by crucifixion is commemorated on Good Friday. Through his death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus paid the penalty for sin, thus purchasing eternal life in Christ Jesus, for all who believe ih him. As we part for our four- day break, let's reflect on what this holiday actually means: remembering the sacrifice that was made for us. I hope you all enjoy your time together!

Before we head off, let's go over a few items on our agendas:

**NO SCHOOL on MONDAY, APRIL 9.

**Next Thursday, April 12, we have a writer's night for Make-A-Wish!

**Next Friday, April 13, our highly-anticipated Spring Sprint and Grandparents Day is just around the corner! Please be sure to let your grandparents know about this exciting, special day! Our students will be participating in a special assembly at 8:30 a.m. to honor their grandparents. Mark this date on your calendars, Friday, April 13.

**Mark your calendars for Field Day on April 20!!

Parents, THANK YOU SO MUCH for helping with our service project for Make-A-Wish. I am so proud of all the participation and money donated for this cause. Our total came to $1,491!! We are making a difference in the life of a family; thank you! *We did have 90% participation this week, which means there will be a week of jeans and T-shirts days to be announced soon! Be sure to check out the "Work/Friends" tab this week for pictures of our dress- up day!

**Don't forget to complete your re-enrollment ONLINE through Parents Web by April 15.
