So many things...

Hello Parents,

We have a lot to discuss this week, as fall break is quickly approaching! I cannot believe tomorrow marks the end of the first quarter. Our report cards will be going home next Friday, October 5. Our 1st – 8th graders’ report cards will be e-mailed at 3:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Our pre-K4 and kindergarten friends will be bringing home their report cards that same day.

NEXT WEEK is HOMECOMING!! Our high school students have spirit days that we want to join in on. We will NOT dress up every day, but middle and elementary like to show their support and have some fun, too! The days we will dress up will be:
· MONDAY: "Dress to Impress" (Sunday best or business professional)
· TUESDAY: "Tacky Day"
· FRIDAY: "Crazy Red & White Day" (no colored or dyed hair)
We are looking forward to this fun opportunity next week, and you’d better believe Mrs. Bledsoe will be dressed up and ready to take pictures!!

I need to make mention of this week's e-mail that I just sent to you. I need you all to look at the attached forms and see if you will need to use our Extended Care services during Fall Break, Christmas Break, and Spring Break. If you are planning on using this service during Fall Break, we need to know by Wednesday, October 3 in order to provide appropriate staffing. Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.

Our Kindergarten teachers want to share...
Carnivores, Herbivores, and Omnivores, OH MY!!!
In the classroom, the kindergarteners have been learning about mammals and non-mammals and their eating habits. To conclude their study of animals from A to Z, the kindergarten class took a trip to the Nashville Zoo. The students were able to see animals that they had learned about up close and personal. A few of their favorites were the owls, pink flamingos, and zebras. **Pictures under the "Kindergarten & 1st Grade" tab**

Parents – this is a reminder for our administrative building...
In anticipation of the upcoming school review by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, we are asking parents to complete a short survey concerning their experiences at Ezell-Harding Christian School.  The information that you provide is extremely important to us and will be used to assess the current spiritual, social, academic, and community status of EHCS in order to make appropriate modifications when necessary.  Please take a few minutes to visit the link found above to complete the survey.  Survey responses will be collected through Thursday, September 27th.  Thank you so much for your input and assistance in this endeavor.

Conference Time...

Hello Wonderful Parents,

I hope this post finds you all doing well. I would like to share with you all a link to a very short story that I shared with my staff this week in our faculty meeting. I usually like to share what is on my mind in hopes that it may be encouraging to another friend. Click on the link (it will take you straight to another page on the blog):  http://kristinbledsoe.blogspot.com/p/most-important-things-in-life.html to see a great TWO-minute read of an inspiring story. I have a jar of rocks on my desk to remind me of the important things in life...

We are approaching the end of the first quarter, and that brings us to conference time (which means another 1/2 day of school tomorrow). This time is a great time to discuss the progress of your child and get to know how he/she is doing in school. Extended care will be provided, but make sure you send a lunch with your child. If you are planning on using extended day during Fall Break (October 8-12), please let Mrs. Freudenthal, Mrs. Boyd, or your child's teacher know. We are trying to make sure we can help all those who need this service. Thank you.

Please help your child round up the "caught ya" buttons they have received so far this year. On Friday I will be calling them to the office to exchange their buttons for prizes. There will be several opportunities throughout the year to turn in their buttons and get prizes. I am so proud of all the good choices our students are making and they truly are taking ownership of their actions each day. Way to go my friends!

Last week, our Pre-K friends got to listen to Kevin Kidd as he performed character-building songs! See the pictures under "Pre-K3 and Pre-K." I believe they had a wonderful time!

Reminder from last week: we are still selling Breast Cancer Awareness shirts. I am waiting on my new order of youth xsmall and small T-shirts. Mrs. Walter's class is showing support to one of the moms in her class who has just had her last treatment for breast cancer. It was a very thoughtful thing for Mrs. Walters to have her entire class honor this family and send many prayers their way.

We are selling the shirts for $10.   Not only do these purchases support the team, but also 25% of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society – a very worthy cause!

Homecoming game is on its way, and with it comes a T-shirt opportunity. Your child will be bringing home an order form on Friday, so be sure to check that out!

**September 20 will be Spirit Night at Angelo's Pizza!

**September 20 & 21 will be parent-teacher conferences (1/2 days for the students, which means dismissal is at 11:00 a.m.- Our PK friends will dismiss at 10:45 a.m. Thank you!)

**October 5 will be our Homecoming Game.

**October 8-12 will be our Fall Break!

Hello Parents,
We had such an amazing turnout at Open House on Tuesday. THANK YOU moms, dads, grandparents, and students for coming out to learn more about our school and our day-to-day activities. I believe the children had a blast being the tour guides and eating cookies! It was wonderful to see almost all of our families! Our community is growing, and I am so happy that we are growing as a family here at EHCS! As always, thank you for trusting us with your precious children; we love them dearly!
**A big thank-you goes out to all the parents who made cookies for our open house and to the PTO for all their help and support. On a side note, I would like to thank our teachers for all the hard work they put in to making our open house a big success. We are blessed with talented, loving teachers!!

You will find more pictures this week under the tabs for your child's grade. All of the pictures that were in the Eagles Nest can now be found here! Your children are so cute, and it was a lot of fun taking their pictures! If you see a picture you really like, let me know, and I'll work on e-mailing it to you or getting you a copy!

Don't forget to look under the "Fine Arts" tab to see more activities going on there; also all of the upcoming dates for Fine Arts events are posted under that tab, as well.

YOU HAVE TO CHECK OUT OUR 4TH GRADERS SINGING A "MATH NUMBER" to the tune of "Call Me Maybe!" It is awesome!!

Field Trips: (Kindergarten teachers said...)
Kindergarten visited the Morning Glory Apple Orchard on Friday, September 7th. We used all five senses to discover new things about apples. We began our trip by listening to our tour guide tell us all about the orchard. Then we tasted and smelled apples, apple cider and honey. We saw the apple cider press and how it works. We concluded our trip by picking an apple from a tree.   Everyone had lots of fun! (See a few pictures of this trip under the K-1st grade tab)

The Varsity Girls Basketball Team is going PINK and has designed a shirt for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  We are selling the shirts for $10.   Not only do these purchases support the team, but also 25% of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society – a very worthy cause! I expect the shirts to go fast, so come get yours today.
p.s. There will be a special day in October (not a Friday) where everyone can wear these shirts and jeans!

In what year did Mrs. Bledsoe graduate from EHCS? Answer: 2001

Thursday, September 6, 2012

Hello Parents,

We would like to cordially invite you to our Open House next Tuesday, September 11, at 5:00 p.m. Please join us for a tour of your child’s classroom. Your children should be able to show you highlights of their work and share some favorite activities they are already doing this year. The children can be your tour guide. It is a moment for students and teachers to share the special community of the classroom with you, as well as review our school day. Please stop in to say hello to me and other staff in the computer lab, library, music room, Spanish room and gym! We look forward to seeing you all next Tuesday.

p.s. I haven't put up any new pictures recently, but there will be a little surprise at Open House!

Can you believe it's already Thursday? This short week has flown by! We have several reminders and things to add to our calendars!

First, please remember that your child is going to P.E. every day and needs to wear shoes that he/she can play and run in. No "slide on" shoes are allowed, because they have a tendency to fly off of their cute little feet. Our precious girls need to wear shorts under all jumpers and skirts, as well! Thank you for your help with this matter.

Tomorrow night is a home football game against our rival DCA! There will be a lot of activities going on tomorrow. In the morning, the varsity basketball players will be selling Krispy Kreme donuts (.50 each). I have ordered more this time in hopes that we can feed all our friends who would like to have one! Also, our cheerleaders will be selling tattoos (.75 each)! Hope to see everyone at the big game this week!

BATTLE OF THE BUILDINGS will be taking place tomorrow night! It is "BLACK OUT" night (we will be matching our football players' black uniform)! We will be selling face paint and glow sticks at the game! Again, I look forward to seeing all of my friends at the game!

**September 15 will be Parents Night Out. The cheerleaders are giving you a night out from 5:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.! The cost will be $15 dollars per child and $25 max. per family.

**September 20 will be Spirit Night at Angelo's Pizza! More details to come on this event.

**September 20 & 21 will be parent- teacher conferences (1/2 day for the students)

Just for your information: The varsity girls basketball team has designed a T-shirt in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They will be selling them for $10. Be looking for some really cool shirts and help support both the team and Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
