We challenged our students by saying, "what better gift can we give the children of our community than the love of reading?" Research has shown that having access to books at home and reading aloud to children increases their reading ability. I believe the ability to read is crucial in keeping children in school and in helping them be successful in life. As a school, we challenged our students to make a difference in the lives of other children and to give them the opportunity to own a book. Then I set our goal as 800 books. WOW!! The results were amazing. I'm so impressed with you and your children. This community and family here at EHCS is so generous and willing to give to others. What a tremendous life lesson we are teaching our moldable children! With the amount of books we brought in we will be enhancing the lives of many underprivileged children who will now get to experience the joy of reading. Thank you for your help with this service project. Now for the big total...
Our elementary students brought in 2, 191 books!!! I'm so proud of our students. They have earned an extra jeans and T-shirt day next Tuesday, January 31. Way to go!!!!
**The total amount of books collected schoolwide is 2,591! Awesome job!!**
I believe we let our light shine in our community. In the Bible, Matthew says, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
Thank you!
Thank you!
