Can you believe it is February already? The weather is warm, and time is flying by! I would like to start off this week by telling you all what a wonderful job our elementary chorus did on Friday. They sang the National Anthem for our Coming Home basketball game. See video below to hear their performance. I'm so proud of our many programs and all the students being involved!
Today in chapel, we had a special group come sing for us. They are called "Half Past 6," and they shared the word of God through song. I have always drawn great strength from songs. Songs deliver the message of Jesus Christ, and I know my strength comes from Him. It is so refreshing to know that we can rest in the strength and comfort that God will provide when facing troubles of many kinds. Let Him have the glory and show himself strong. 2 Chronicles 16:9 says, "For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him." God wants to show Himself strong on your behalf, and we were all blessed by the way God showed Himself through song this morning.
Last week, we finished our book drive. We did a tremendous job: the elementary alone brought in almost 2,200 books! Mrs. Walters' class, who won the class competition for books, brought in almost 500 books by themselves. Their class received an extra 30 minutes of P.E., as well as ice cream! With all that being said, I wanted to give a big thank you to the whole school for helping those underprivileged children. All our students participated with this wonderful service project, and I'm proud of them!
Also in January, we continued our competition for bringing in box tops. In the month of January alone, we brought in 6,800 box tops! We are so close to our final goal of 20,000! We have one month left to bring them in, so let's end strong! At the end of February, one class will be named the grand prize winner and will receive an "awesome prize." We will also be giving something to the 2nd and 3rd place classes, so keep cutting, clipping, and bagging those box tops.
**Remember to sell that cookie dough. Our last day for turn in is tomorrow, February 3.
**Next week, our 2nd grade friends will be leading us in chapel. Parents, you are of course welcome to join us!
**Our Pre-K is SUPER BOWL READY! We hope you all enjoy the "big game" on Sunday! (DON'T FORGET TO VOTE FOR THE WINNER UNDER "Dinner Discussion.")
