Tonight...Big Game

Hello Parents,

I must start off by saying that tonight is a big night for our Lady Eagles basketball team. They are headed to state and are playing Knox Webb at 5:15 p.m. Our ladies have practiced and played their hearts out to get this special opportunity to play for a state title. They have definitely earned it, and I know God has allowed them to be at this place right here right now. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 states,
"You've all been to the stadium and seen the
athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You're after one that's gold eternally. I don't know about you, but I'm running hard for the finish line. I'm giving it everything I've got. No sloppy living for me! I'm staying alert and in top condition."

This we can apply to our lives. Let's run to win for God's glory! Go LADY EAGLES!!

On that note, starting this Monday, we will have training after school for our half-marathon runners. It will be on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Friday from 2:40-3:00. There are still spot available if you want to sign up online.

I'm so proud of our students! Our goal was 20,000 box tops, and we surpassed that goal by thousands. Our students brought in 22, 568 box tops! I would like to thank you, parents, for your support in this project. Box Tops for Education allows us to get many things we need in the classroom and we could not do it without your help! Our top three grade levels were 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade, and part of their reward is pizza on Friday. This means that students in those grades do not need to bring a lunch on Friday.

I would also like to mention that our 2nd through 4th grade students have all entered a writing competition that is held state wide, among many different schools. This story is to be written without any help and will be judged. A special awards ceremony will be held at Lipscomb once the stories have been read. I will have more information soon. We have very talented and creative young students, and I'm glad to see them expressing their thoughts through stories.

Don't Forget.... Make-A-Wish
As you all know, our school is currently doing a service project for "Make-A-Wish". We are raising money in order to help grant the wish of a child with a life-threatening medical condition. We hope that by doing this, we can enrich that child's life with hope, strength, and joy. It's a wonderful opportunity for our students to have a hand in making that child's wish come true and giving them something that is ultimately priceless. Our elementary friends are helping with this by paying $2 to dress up. They can either dress up with the theme that goes with each date listed below, OR they can pay $2 to wear jeans and an Ezell T-shirt. Either way, they are helping us raise the money for our cause. Look for me, because I'll be dressing up each day.
The days are...
March 7: "Serious day" (The business side of education - suits, etc.)
March 14: "Backwards day"
March 28: "Back in the day" (Hippies, 70's, 80's dress)
April 4: "Western/farm day" (overalls, pig tails, painted freckles on faces, cowboys and cowgirls)
**We are trying to make a child's wish come true, and together with some "cool" dress up days, we can help make it happen!**

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART:
This year, there is a new online feature which will make the fundraising proccess much easier. The website is www.heart.org/jump. Our jump day will be on March 9, so be sure to go ahead and get started. Our goal is $5,000 and if we reach this goal Coach Riley and Coach Leebrick will kiss a pig. (Does anyone have access to one?) On this same day, I will be put in jail in the Eagles Nest all day. Also, the top 30 individual fundraisers will get snow cones! The top class will get a movie in the Eagles Nest. So let's get going!

Tomorrow, we will have "Donuts with the Principal." First through fourth grade will receive certificates for honor roll and principal's list. Also, this six weeks, our kindergarten friends will join us. If they have said six of their sight word lists, they will receive a certificate and a donut. I'm thrilled at how many students we will be rewarding tomorrow. Keep working hard, friends!

Lastly, parents, mark your calendars for next Thursday. Our Fine Arts Chorus will be leading us in chapel!
